Controversy

 

I was reading Nymag.com/fashion and I saw the article about Amy Winehouses father being upset about Jean Paul Gaultier's "Winehouse-inspired couture show". Her father told a british newspaper: "The family were upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock. We're still grieving for her loss, and we've had a difficult week with the six month anniversary of Amy's death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on ... We're proud of her influence on fashion but find black veils on models, smoking cigarettes with a barbershop quartet singing her music in bad taste. It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best and glamorises some of the more upsetting times in her life. That's upsetting for her family." I can understand how the family would be upset because it seems commercial and only trying to make a profit. Her father then goes on to say that Gaultier should donate to the fund they have set up for troubled teens under Amy Winehouses name; aren't they trying to get a profit as well? While on the other hand I think Amy would be happy to see what an influence she has on the fashion industry. Not everyday are you the inspiration for a couture show! I mean how many famous people and ideas do people get permission from I really don't think its that serious. What do you guys think? Here are some pictures from the show.

Big and Back! :)

Hey guys I know I haven't posted in awhile! I missed blogging and now I'm back and ready to post. Hopefully you all haven't forgotten about my blog. I would love to post all my outfit posts that I've missed but I haven't even taken a lot of pictures so I'll get back to that too. Last time I posted about VA fashion week well I'll be getting ready for that again soon. Next month is NY fashion week I'm excited are you!? Well I've seen a lot of pictures of big hair lately and I love big hair so here's some inspiration for you all! Va fashion Week 2011!

Hello everyone! I have been away for a while I apologize school and work have me busy. I also wanted to wait until va fashion week came to post again! As some of you know I participated in va fashion week this year as an emerging designer! My hair and makeup person was awesome (Tangie Edwards) and my models were great (payton taliaferro, tia austin edwards, tymara austin edwards, bianca cherry and nina) ! Here are the five looks.I was inspired by skin, blood and darkness. The red is blood or dried up blood and the browns a representation of skin. The lady is in a nightmare and she takes the skin off of others and wears it and its basically blood and skin and tape everywhere. The black tape is represented by the black and purple dress that you will see. The hair is wild for a nightmare and the eyes are red. Enjoy!

 

just throw it on

I made this maxi to wear just to go out. I know another maxi lol I love them! This weekend me and my friends played with lace fronts and makeup we had so much fun! In between that we've been  trying to get scared lol basically looking for trouble. We've been walking around neighborhoods at night and walking near woods not actually going in them (were not that brave lol). I know how silly do we sound lol but its fun to be scared even though you are scared if that makes any sense! lol

Just Plain

Hello all I made a quick white maxi skirt just to have something to wear lol. Me and my friend went out trying on wigs and just acting silly. I only like one of the pictures I took in the skirt but I'm sure I'll wear it again. This is gonna be a really short post. School is going okay and I'm still getting stuff ready for Va fashion week I might even post the sketches if you guys want to see them?

Its my birthday!

My birthday was this past Friday, I had so much fun. I went to Ruby Tuesday, went bowling and of course acted silly all weekend! I wish I could've gotten a better picture of my dress but it was late. My dress was actually dark green but it doesn't even look that way in the picture :( I had more pictures on my camera but they wouldn't upload so I had to format my card again.

School is going well. Virginia Fashion week is this November so I'm getting ready for that! Enjoy the post :)
